CLUB INFO
SIGMA CLUB

SIGMA club of Sophia College is a science club, run on the basics of science. At SIGMA, science is in everything. We hold multiple events, workshops, group discussions, and sessions revolving around Science. This year even after taking things online, we only came closer to our members and participants. With discussing core ideas like how to build a radio telescope on your own to talking openly about body positivity, we did it all, because we understand that holistic development is the one which is done when an individual explores all the fields for growth. We have now come a long way, but there is so much more for us to discover together. At the SIGMA club, we intend to challenge these thoughts by planning exercises that are pleasant for everybody that are established in logical standards. We trusted that these exercises urge individuals to appreciate Science and the importance that it has in the present society. Besides, we have consistently needed understudies of Science to appreciate science outside our classrooms. We organized events that were least talked about like Hydroponics by Tulza Kakde, Science behind sunscreen by Mr. Nelson Corda, and her team We Farm and Synaesthesia which conducted by Geeta Vishwanathan. Not just we also targeted social problems and came up with events like Body positivity conducted by Mrs. Sukriti Kohli, Dealing with uncertainty held by Mini Nair, who has expertise in psychology. We also undertook the responsibility to work in the field of research and health with our two main club members coming together to discuss Gender bias in covid 19 on 26th February, we had a special event on PCOD to make young girls understand the importance of it. Since this year was all about experiments and enjoyment we did a fun session on DC and Marvel universe, poster making, and a fun photography event called Agaze-e-ehasas in collaboration with the Art and Design Club and Association of Christian Students. This year inspite of being a very difficult year due to the pandemic did become a very successful year for the club and each day was a learning for the club and its members.
