Educating the whole person is a priority at Sophia. An extensive range of co-curricular activities offers each student the possibility of developing her own special gifts and interests. The year begins with GLIMPSES, which introduces all club activities to new students. Cultural activities, debates, dramatics, elocution, sports, music or media, are all represented. Membership is open to both Junior and Senior college students.
The Junior college holds an Annual Talent Search. The items include singing, both group and solo, dance, music and poetry- writing competitions. | This Association is open to any student who would like to develop her knowledge of Indian Culture. She may become member of one or more of the following "mandals" or classes. |
Why under one "Bharatiya Parishad?"
All these mandals are united under the Bharatiya Sanskritik Parishad in order that we may realise that whatever our language or community, we are first "Bharatiya". To encourage this sense of unity among students with so much diversity, once a year all the B.S.P. members meet at "Sanskriti" when different mandals provide entertainment. Occasionally, one mandal invites another to a talk, debate, etc., sometimes held in English, so that we may learn to appreciate a culture and literature other than our own. Other cultural events like a rangoli competition, food-fest etc. bring out the richness, beauty and diversity of our culture. |
